About
EVOEye: Regenerative Therapy for Ocular Surface Injuries
EVOEye applies EVOCellic’s proprietary keratinocyte production technology to a new indication — the regeneration of the ocular surface following injury or disease. Our approach uses cell-coated contact lenses that deliver living regenerative cells directly to the damaged eye, restoring epithelial integrity and accelerating healing.
Technology Concept
Small patches of keratinocytes cultured on contact lenses for direct application to the cornea or conjunctiva. Inspired by the success of amnion membrane therapy, offering a simpler, cell-based alternative. Designed for rapid epithelial repair and reduction of inflammation and scarring. Cost-effective production leveraging existing EVOCellic manufacturing technology.
Clinical Indications
Cornea: Persistent epithelial defects, neurotrophic keratitis, band and bullous keratopathy, limbal stem cell deficiency, recurrent epithelial erosion, corneal dystrophies.
Conjunctiva: Symblepharon, mechanical or chemical trauma, Stevens–Johnson syndrome.
Sclera: Large melts or perforations.
Other Applications: Post-surgical repair (glaucoma or cataract), dysfunctional tear syndrome, and military or chemical injury scenarios.
Market Context
Comparable therapies (e.g., amnion membrane applications) are priced between €200 – €1,000 per use in Austria. Strong demand for accessible, off-the-shelf regenerative eye treatments. Potential for orphan or military designation in severe ocular trauma cases. Expanding global market for ocular surface regeneration and cell therapy.
Development Stage
Pre-clinical phase: optimizing cell formulation and attachment to lens material. Ongoing in vitro testing for cell viability, adherence, and epithelial repair efficacy. Preparing for first translational and safety studies.
Strategic Partnership Opportunity
We are seeking a strategic partner to co-develop and invest in EVOEye. The project offers a compelling opportunity to expand EVOCellic’s technology into a high-value ophthalmic market with strong translational and military potential.
